Opportunity
Working with us
Oklahoma’s workforce was a key factor in our decision to locate this project in the state. In operation, Oklahoma Primary Aluminum will create approximately 1,000 high-quality direct jobs at the plant.
Oklahoma Primary Aluminum will offer a wide range of career opportunities. We are committed to building a talented team to support this landmark development. Most recruitment will take place during the later stages of construction to prepare for operations which we expect to begin by the end of the decade.
Our aspiration is that all job openings at the plant will be filled by people from surrounding communities and the region. Since aluminum production is a new industry for Oklahoma, we recognize that achieving this requires a clear strategy over the long term. In partnership with Tulsa Ports and tribal nations, Oklahoma Primary Aluminum is collaborating with local schools and universities on technical skill development to promote high employability from the area.
Our shareholders each have decades-long track records at their other plants of supporting communities by making job opportunities available straight out of high school or college and helping cultivate career growth.
Century Aluminum operates two U.S. plants, which are job-multipliers in their communities. According to a study by the University of South Carolina, our Mt. Holly smelter generates a statewide employment multiplier of 3.2. That means for every 10 jobs that are directly created by the smelter, another 22 jobs, on average, are created elsewhere in the state.
We expect around 4,000 temporary jobs to be created in constructing Oklahoma Primary Aluminum. These jobs will be with our construction contractors. Oklahoma Primary Aluminum will encourage construction contractors to recruit people from surrounding communities and the region as much as possible.
